WYSIWYG Editor doesn't support Multi-Select

Summary

In the WYSIWYG editor it is possible to select multiple areas by holding thew ctrl key.

However, if you then click on a formatting button in the toolbar or press a shortcut (e.g. -b to make the text bold) only the first part of the selection is affected.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Edit a page and write some text.
  2. Select some of the text with the mouse.
  3. Whilst holding the ctrl-key on the keyboard, select some more text not adjacent to the previous selection.
  4. Click on the "Bold" button in the toolbar.

Expected results

All selected text should now be bold.

Actual results

Only the selection which appear first in the editor (top and left most) is bold and remains selected. Other selections are no longer present.

Additional notes

This is a very minor bug which maybe is not worth being fixed, as it probably needs to be fixed in the upstream project which maintains the WYSIWYG editor component.
I wanted to report it nonetheless, just in case someone actually feels like picking it up.

I explored the option of preventing the user from selecting multiple areas in the editor. However, a quick google search turned out empty, but I'm no HTML/CSS expert.
